Amidst the oaks and rolling hills of Creston, CA, on the old Huer Huero Mexican land grant, you will find Chateau Margene, est. 1997. The estate is planted with prime exposure on the gentle crest of an east facing slope, within its own micro-climate, capable of producing world class Cabernet Sauvignons and Bordeaux style blends.

Our highly acclaimed 2000 vintage was created in true artisan style in an existing barn on the estate. Our new winery building was completed in time for the 2001 vintage,  in order for us to reach our ultimate production goal, a modest 3,000 cases.  Our minimalist winemaking philosophy carried with us from the old barn to the new building.

We grow and purchase superior grapes, then hand pick, hand sort and gently de-stem the fruit.  All of our reds are open top fermented and extended sur-lie ageing is practiced.  Barrel time for our Cabernet's range from 24 to 32 months.

Our estate tasting room is open Saturday & Sunday from 12:00-5:00 p.m. (except Holidays).  Our westside tasting room is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
