Established in 1997, Chateau Margene was started by Michael and Margene Mooney with the goal of producing world-class Cabernet Sauvignon wines.   Their estate vineyard was planted in 1998 with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc.  Their flagship wine, Beau Melange (beautiful blend), is exclusively from their estate vineyard and is aged for 30-36 months in 100% French oak barrels.  It is primarily a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, and based on the vintage, is 20-30% Merlot with the balance being Cabernet Franc.  

In 2006, the Mooney Family label was started with the goal of making exceptional Rhone blends from the Paso Robles AVA.  Pinot Noirs from the Santa Lucia Highlands were added to the lineup with the introduction of the 2008 Pinot Noir and 2008 Reserve Pinon Noir in November 2009.  The Mooney Family label has grown to 1,500 cases in a few short years.

In 2011, we introduced El Pistolero, a blend of several red grape varietals from the Paso Robles AVA.  This line of wines is designed to offer ultra premium wines at an exceptional value. 

All of the wines produced by Chateau Margene, Mooney Family and El Pistolero are sold direct, from either the estate winery or west Paso Robles tasting room, located at the corner of Vineyard Drive and Peachy Canyon.
