May 2013 Vineyard Update

Things are looking great in the vineyard.  The threat of frost is behind us and after shoot thinning, our initial cluster counts have us tracking at around 2 tons per acre here at the estate.  We have picked up two new vineyards this year for our Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre.  In addition to our estate, our walk throughs at all 7 vineyards where we acquire fruit show that 2013 is shaping up to be a great vintage.  In the tasting rooms, the new releases are showing really well.  Stop by and check them out.

Spring’s Coming

Just completed bottling 1450 cases on 2/18 and are turning our focus to the vineyards.  An exciting time of new beginnings.  Pruning, discing, fertilizing and putting some water down.  Not enough rain this season and the Farmer’s ALmanac is telling us not to expect much more.

Finally winding down

We have put all the wines to bed for the season. 2012 looks to be a great vintage. Boxing the new El Pistolero 3L wine next month. It will be a blend of Petite Sirah and Syrah. The Petite has been in barrel for 4 years. This will be the best box wine you have ever tasted. In the tasting rooms late December. Cheers!
